Other Interesting Areas

Their are a number of other local areas served by rail lines around the layout of interest, too numerous for each to have their own page, or they are not yet complete, so they are grouped here.


The container yard, featuring several cranes to move containers and trailers on and off their cars, is a busy place.	A water powered woolen mill, custom built and weathered by Al Myer, one of our charter members, and a master builder. occupies a special place on the layout.

A tribute to Schreier Malting, who provided space for us in our early years when we built our modular layout.	A new diesel engine service facility at the south end of the Proviso Yard. It should easily handle 20 locomotives at a time.
